The
main structural characteristics of the composite material reinforced by
fibers derived. In composite materials, fibers, through the matrix
resin, which is held in place, contributed to high tensile strength, and
enhance the performance characteristics of the final portion, such as
strength and stiffness while minimizing the weight of the finished
component.
Fiber
characteristics determined by the fiber manufacturing process, the
chemical composition of the fibers in the resin matrix of the adhesive
fiber with the coating chemical and further adapted to protect it during
processing.
Fiber glass
All
fibers used in the composites industry in the vast majority are glass
fibers. Fiberglass chopped strand mat is the oldest, by far, the majority of end-market
applications for the most common reinforcing member (aerospace industry
is a notable exception) to replace heavier metal parts. By weight of
glass fibers exceeds the second most common reinforcement, carbon
fibers, and not stiff, but more resistant to impact, and the elongation
to break greater. It depends on the level of the type of glass, filament
diameter, chemical and fiber in the form of coatings, it can reach a
wide range of features and performance.
In
glass fiber production, molten material, and drawn into fine and highly
abrasive filaments, a diameter in the range of 3.5 to 24 microns.
Silica is the initial ingredients, typically accounting for more than
50% by weight of glass fiber. Metal oxides and other ingredients added
to the silica and different processing methods can be customized fiber
for specific applications.
Glass
supply into bundles called shares. An continuous glass collection.
Generally refers to an untwisted roving wire, packaging, such as in a
large spool. Single-end roving by a continuous length, a plurality of
strands of glass fiber bundles composed. Roving contain lengthy, but not
completely continuous strand, which add or delete staggered winding
process. Yarn is formed by a set of strands twisted together.
